At this year's CES, the most ambitious product from Dell isn't one of those UFO-like gaming laptops; it is the Concept Nyx. By definition, Concept Nyx is essentially a service that lets you play your current games anywhere. It may sound boring but Concept Nyx has the potential to bring a vast update to the way you and me play PC games.

If you know about Steam's Remote Play Anywhere features, you won't have a tough time grasping this. Nyx essentially brings all of your owned PC games together and lets you decide which screen in your house you want to take the game to. You can start a game on your bedroom TV and move it to your dining hall laptop.

Concept Nyx marks evolution of gaming

“Imagine you're on your desktop in your bedroom exploring Night City in CyberPunk 2077. Your roommates are on their laptops and tablets in the living room, battling head-to-head in Rocket League. And your cousin is also over, casually building a new world in Minecraft on her cell phone. Now let's say it's time to prepare dinner so you head downstairs and pass the controller to one of your roommates – you can quickly switch to your CyberPunk 2077 experience on the 65-inch TV in the living room and let them takeover exactly where you left off, advancing your game while you cook,” – that's how Dell describes Nyx.

The Nyx system can host up to four games on a local server in your home.

Nyx, however, is complete opposite to cloud gaming services like Stadia and Xbox Cloud gaming. Instead of streaming games from an external cloud computer and creating issues such as low latency and connectivity speeds, Nyx does it all locally.

The Nyx system can host up to four games on a local server in your home and can then stream it paired devices in your house. You can then either play your game on the large screen TV while your friend plays his/her game on the same TV – made possible by split screen arrangement. Or, you can simply carry your game to a tablet or a laptop.

Nyx, however, is a concept and Dell does not reveal whether this is a free service, or you will need to pay a subscription.

What do you think of the Concept Nyx? Would you have it in your home?
