Amazon introduced Alexa integration within its Android-based shopping app back in March this year. Now, nearly two months later, the company has introduced a new feature to the app that enables users to pay bills and check the balance of their Amazon Pay accounts using simple voice commands. In addition to this, users can also recharge their Amazon Pay accounts using voice commands.

Simply said, users can now forget the lengthy online payment procedures and instead ask Alexa to pay their DTH bills, gas bill or even electricity and water bills.

It is worth noting that this feature is not only available in the Android version of Amazon's shopping app but it can also be accessed via Amazon's Echo range of smart speakers, Fire TV Stick or any other device with Alexa built-in.

Here's what you need to do:

Step 1: Tap the microphone icon on the Amazon shopping app.

Step 2: Say “Alexa, pay my mobile bill” or “Alexa, pay my gas bill”.

Step 3: If you are an existing Amazon Pay user, Alexa will get the bill amount due from the registered account and ask for customer confirmation before processing the payment.

Step 4: Once you authorise the payment, Alexa will complete the transaction using Amazon Pay and send a notification confirming the transaction to your registered mobile phone number.

Step 5: If you are a new Amazon Pay customer, Alexa will send a link to register their bill details on the Amazon shopping app.

Step 6: Once you have linked your billing account, Alexa will fetch the billing information and then complete the transaction using Amazon Pay.

“Customers can also enable a voice pin on the Alexa app to secure these transactions. Once approved, Alexa will complete the transaction using Amazon Pay, and send a notification to the customer's registered mobile phone number,” Amazon said in a press release.

If you want to check the Amazon Pay balance and add money to your account, here's what you need to do:

Step 1: Tap on the microphone icon on the Amazon shopping app.

Step 2: Ask “Alexa, what is my Amazon Pay balance?" and she will tell you the balance.

Step 3: To add money Say “Alexa, add 500 Rs. to my Amazon Pay balance".

Step 4: Now you will be navigated to the ‘Add Money' page with the requested amount pre-filled.

Step 5: Approve the transaction and soon you will get a message confirming the transaction.
