Asus will launch its upcoming flagship phone, ROG Phone 5, in India in March, says leakster Mukul Sharma.
“[Exclusive] Asus ROG Phone 5 is indeed launching soon. Provided there are no last moment changes, the device will make it's way to India as well in March,” Sharma said in a tweet.
Asus ROG Phone 5 will follow the ROG Phone 3, which mainly focused on gaming and power users. The successor is likely to double down on features for gaming enthusiasts. The ROG Phone 5 has already made numerous appearances on certification and benchmarking sites ahead of the official launch.
For instance, ROG Phone 5 was recently seen on the Geekbench benchmarking website with the model number ASUS_I005DA. The smartphone is seen running Qualcomm’s top-end Snapdragon 888 processor. The listing further revealed the phone has 16GB of RAM and Android 11 out-of-the-box.
Earlier, the upcoming Asus phone was spotted on China’s TENAA certification website. That listing revealed the smartphone has a 6,000mAh battery. It is also said to come with a 65W fast charger. On the camera front, it will have as many as three sensors including a primary 64-megapixel one.
Asus ROG Phone 5 will come with a 6.78-inch AMOLED display. The phone will also support on-screen fingerprint reader. Another highlight is going to be a 144Hz refresh rate.
Based on the leaks so far, Asus ROG Phone 5 looks like an incremental upgrade over the predecessor, at least on the specifications side. The ROG Phone 3 comes with a 6.59-inch FHD+ AMOLED panel with 10-bit HDR10+ support. It also comes with up to 16GB of RAM and UFS 3.1 built-in storage.
The phone offers a combination of 64-megapixel Sony IMX686 sensor Quad Bayer technology and f/1.8 aperture + 13-megapixel 125-degree ultra-wide camera + 5-megapixel macro camera with f/2.0 aperture. At the front, it comes with a 24-megapixel f/2.0 camera.
Asus ROG Phone 3 is currently available online for a starting price of ₹47,000 approximately.
