AMD launches B450 chipsets, optmised for 2nd gen Ryzen desktop processors

The latest chipsets will be available through ASRock, ASUS, Biostar, Gigabyte, and MSI.

AMD on Wednesday announced the launch of B450 chipsets. The new series is the successor to the popular B350 processors.

The company says the new motherboards are optimised for second-generation Ryzen desktop processors. The new motherboards will be available from companies like ASRock, ASUS, Biostar, Gigabyte, and MSI.

The new chipsets will also pave way for more affordable gaming devices. They work in tandem with Ryzen 3 2200G Radeon Vega 8 Graphics and AMD Ryzen 7 2700X and GeForce GTX 1080 cards. Other key components of the new motherboard include full bandwidth for NVMe and GPU, unlocked CPU OC, ready DRAM OC, scalable socket AM4, and AMD's StoreMI technology.

"Later this month, AMD is expanding and improving upon the AM4 desktop ecosystem for Ryzen desktop processors with the launch of AMD B450 chipset-based motherboards," said the company in a note.

"Optimized for 2nd generation Ryzen desktop processors, the B450 motherboards reiterate AMD's commitment of providing accessible, high-performing products. Designed to offer top notch features, performance and value, the new B450 motherboards will be available from partners including ASRock, ASUS, Biostar, Gigabyte, and MSI."
