Microsoft Teams gets another massive update with several new features

Microsoft is pushing another update for its Teams platform with more number of features for general users. There’s a new calling interface this time that brings contacts, voicemail and calling history at a single place, making it easier to access. In addition, Team users can also transfer calls between mobile and desktop soon so you it becomes easier to change locations during an audio or video call. The app will also let you join without audio on an additional device or transfer the call and end it on other devices. But this particular feature is said to arrive in 2021.

In case you are recording meetings on Microsoft Teams, you can now record meetings to SharePoint or OneDrive instead of being limited to Microsoft’s Stream service. This will result in easier sharing of calls or transcripts with those who are outside of Teams platform.

Another feature is ‘Spam Identification’ that “will identify potential spam calls so you can feel confident answering incoming calls. Additionally, Teams will digitally attest outgoing calls to prevent these calls from being rejected by external recipients.” The update also brings “Low-data mode” in case you want to save data or have poor network. However, this will come in 2021. From next year, users will be able to adjust their settings in Teams to cap the amount of data that will be used during video calls and establish different settings based on network availability (cellular, wifi, or always).

Lastly, Teams is getting Apple CarPlay support. So, in case you are driving a car, it is possible to ask Siri to initiate or answer Team calls. Theirs is no word on Android Auto support for now through.
