Paytm First Games announces events to support developers, here’s how to take part

Paytm, the popular payment app of India seems to be making its foot strong in the gaming segment. The company’s Paytm First Games (PFG) today announced that it will provide a launchpad to indigenous developers and design studios to promote their games focused on Indian culture and folk tales. As per the firm, this will provide an opportunity to studios for building titles, which will promote gamified learning on Indian heritage, mythology and sporting history.

The firm says that it will organize a series of events and hackathons to identify young developers and curate games that can be successful across all user segments. The firm will then help those developers with technology solutions and mentor them to make games more interactive, seamless and well-designed. As a part of it, Paytm will also be promoting these games on its app and market them to its 80 million gamer base. As per the public announcement, it has created ₹10 crore fund for this initiative.

"Our country has the potential to revolutionize the digital gaming arena with innovative designs, technology, and talent. We believe it's the time to lead the digital gaming sector with Made in India games that becomes a global runaway success. Being a homegrown company we want to play our part in enabling India's gaming ecosystem. Our goal is to support over 200 talented developers, who may not have access to resources comparable to that of big studios," said Sudhanshu Gupta, COO Paytm First Games.

Earlier today, Paytm made headlines for its Android Mini App Store in India. The app store aims to support Indian developers such that they are able to take their innovative products to the masses without paying any extra fees. This move is said to be taken in order to create Google Play Store’s rival platform. 

Paytm founder Vijay Shekhar Sharma was not pleased on how Google pulled the Paytm app briefly from the Play Store stating that it violated the norms.
