WhatsApp is one of the most popular messaging apps in the world. Off lately, a lot of WhatsApp users have been flocking to other messaging apps such as Signal and Telegram. While these apps offer end-to-end encryption, just as WhatsApp, there are a number of key features that remain missing from their platform.
So, if you are planning to ditch WhatsApp for Signal and Telegram, here are the top five features that you will miss out on:
Payments
WhatsApp recently introduced a UPI-based payments feature called WhatsApp Pay in India. The feature is being rolled out to all WhatsApp users in India in a graded manner and it enables users to send or receive money from other WhatsApp users from their connected bank accounts. A similar feature remains unavailable on Telegram and Signal as of now.
Group video/voice calls
One of the many advantages of using WhatsApp is its group video and voice calling feature. Earlier this feature used to support up to four participants in a single call. During the lockdown, the company expanded this limit to eight people. Signal too offers a group calling feature with e-2-e encryption. Telegram, on the other hand, doesn't offer a group video calling feature. Users can make video calls to individual users only.
Storage management tool
WhatsApp, last year, introduced a storage management tool in its app. This tool enables users to identify the files that are taking the maximum space on their platform and delete them. Signal introduced a similar tool in its Android app in January 2020. Telegram, on the other hand, has no such feature.
