A Twitter feature that builds a wall between your personal and professional life? Is that not stuff dreams are made of? Well, making it possible to step from the dream world into the real one is Twitter. The platform is in fact, working on a bunch of new features that will let users separate their work tweets and their personal tweets and that too with just one click! The micro-blogging platform today has announced that it is working on as many as two new features that will give users more control over whom they are sharing their tweets with.

The first Twitter feature is called Trusted Friends. This feature will let users toggle their tweets from public to private. The company says that its Trusted Friend feature if released, will enable users to share a tweet with a select group of friends whom they trust. The screenshot shared by the company shows that right before sharing a tweet, users will be greeted with a small popup that will ask them to pick between sharing the tweet with Everyone or just Trusted Friends.

This Twitter feature would work in a way that is quite similar to Instagram’s Close Friends feature that gives users the ability to share a post with a pre-select group of friends.

Twitter Facets

The other feature is called Facets and it gives users more granular control over what they are sharing and with whom. It lets users pick between their personas and likes and dislikes while sharing a tweet. For instance, a user may have a work persona, and they may also be interested in travelling. With Facets, Tweeps will be able to share their travelling related tweets only with fellow enthusiasts, and all other tweets with other people following their profile. As far as the people following a user are concerned, they can either choose to follow an entire profile or a specific persona of a Tweep.

Twitter KISS

If released, these features will enable users to use a single account to share their tweets with a more versatile audience. Many Twitter users use two separate accounts to keep their work and their personal lives separate and these Twitter features will keep it simple for all concerned.

Twitter flying a kite?

That said, Twitter has indicated that as of now, it is just exploring the possibility of introducing these features and it may well not roll them out. Perhaps it is just gauging public opinion.
