Ubisoft drops ‘Far Cry 6’ teaser and it features Breaking Bad’s Gus Fring

While it will be interesting to get more details on Far Cry 6 at the company’s Ubisoft Forward event on July 12, what will be more interesting is that it will have the popular actor Giancarlo Esposito.

Looks like Ubisoft is not just bringing its Assassin’s Creed Valhalla in the coming months but also the next iteration in its Far Cry Series - Far Cry 6. The company’s Ubisoft UK handle just dropped a short video teaser on social media with the text “Anton would not be pleased. See you on Sunday at #UbiForward”. While it will be interesting to get more details on Far Cry 6 at the company’s Ubisoft Forward event on July 12, what will be more interesting is that it will have the popular actor Giancarlo Esposito. You might better know him as Breaking Bad’s Gus Fring.

The video clearly shows Esposito burning his cigar and taking a puff looking towards the camera. However, nothing more than that was shown. And going by the text in the tweet, he will surely be called ‘Anton’.

While all this is official for now, what’s not official was the listing of Far Cry 6, hours before the official video teaser, on the Hong Kong version of the PlayStation Store. As spotted by Polygon, Esposito seems to be playing the character of Anton Castillo, a dictator of Yara as suggested from the artwork (showing him and possibly his son) and the story description on the PlayStation Store listing.

Here’s what the listing read:

“Welcome to Yara, a tropical paradise frozen in time. As the dictator of Yara, Anton Castillo is intent on restoring his nation back to its former glory by any means, with his son, Diego, following in his bloody footsteps. Their ruthless oppression has ignited a revolution.”

The gamers are supposed to play as Dani Rojas, who is a local Yaran and later “become[s] a guerrilla fighter to liberate the nation.” And as expected, Rojas will battle Anton’s army in Far Cry 6.

The listing add that while this title will be available for PlayStation 4, it will also be coming to PS5 and that those who purchase the PS4 version will be upgraded to the PS5 version for free.

Unfortunately, gamers may have to wait for a few more months to get their hands on Far Cry 6 as the listing mentioned February 18, 2021 as the release date.
