Oppo Reno 7 Z leaks ahead of launch; looks like Reno 7 Pro
Oppo Reno 7 Z could be the most affordable Reno series device this year. Check out the leaked specs and design.
The Oppo Reno 7 and Reno 7 Pro are currently the fanciest smartphones you can buy for less than Rs. 40,000 in India right now. Oppo isn't done yet and it seems that brand is working on a more affordable variant of these two models. Expected to be called the Oppo Reno 7Z, this is likely to be a much cheaper device in the Reno series and could be borrowing some of the design flair from the more expensive models, but have entry-level specifications. How doe we know all of this? Thanks to a new leak coming in from the NCC.
The leaked details were obtained by MySmartprice after the Oppo Reno 7Z passed the NCC certification. The Reno 7 Z could eventually take on the likes of the upcoming Redmi Note 11 Pro 5G and Samsung Galaxy A53 5G, as is evident form its specs sheet. The phone borrows the design from the more expensive Reno 7 Pro instead of the standard Reno 7, as is evident from its boxy looks. There is a triple camera setup on the Reno 7 Z.

The Reno 7 Z has an edge-to-edge display with a camera cutout on the corner. The rear has three cameras arranged in the same Reno 7 Pro fashion. The phone appears to have a plastic unibody design and will come in a Black colour option. However, a previous leak suggested that the Reno 7 Z could also come in Soft Gold and Gradient Blue colours.
The phone will accompany a slower 33W charging solution instead of the 65W charging on the Reno 7 and Reno 7 Pro. It will ship with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, which could be sole variant of the Reno 7 Z in most countries.
Previous reports suggested that the Oppo Reno 7 Z could also rely on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 480+ chipset, which is a 5G entry-level chip. A 4500mAh battery will power the Reno 7Z and it will come with ColorOS 11 based on Android 11. Since this is a test unit, it could be on the older version of Android. Oppo could launch it with ColorOS 12 based on Android 12. Note that the Reno 7 and Reno 7 Pro get ColorOS 12 but still run on Android 11, with Oppo staying mum on plans for the Android 12 release.
It remains to be seen whether Oppo brings the phone to India. For the last few years, Oppo has only been launching the standard and Pro versions of the Reno series in India, going all the way back to the Reno 4.
