Indian-origin Parag Agrawal was named the new Twitter CEO after previous incumbent in the post, co-founder Jack Dorsey, resigned. Parag was both a friend and a colleague of Dorsey and received fulsome praise from the departing CEO who reposed full faith in Agrawal's leadership at Twitter. Agrawal has been with Twitter for 10 years now. He started as an engineer and worked his way up to chief technology officer's designation and is now the chief executive officer there. His decade's worth of service has seen Agrawal being put in charge of a number of prestigious projects. The notable part is that these projects will be critical to Twitter's growth going forward. Significantly, by being named to lead Twitter, Agrawal has beaten Facebook chief Mark Zuckerberg in one aspect. Parag Agrawal has become the youngest CEO in the S&P 500 currently. The difference, however, was not much. Parag beat Zuckerberg by the proverbial skin of his teeth.

Parag Agrawal, aged 37, is the same age as Zuckerberg. However, his exact date of birth has not been divulged by Twitter because of security fears. But the company nevertheless, let it be known that Agrawal's birth date is later than that of Zuckerberg, who was born on May 14, 1984, Bloomberg reports. Notably, Parag Agrawal, joined Twitter back in 2011.

At 45, Jack Dorsey, was already in the youngest CEOs list in the S&P 500 club.

As far as the oldest CEOs' race is concerned, know that Berkshire Hathaway chief, Warren Buffett, the ‘Oracle of Omaha' has it sewn up firmly and is not likely to be deposed going forward. Warren Buffett, age 91, is still going strong at his iconic company.

Parag Agrawal joins a long list of Indian-origin CEOs in top technology companies in the US. The list includes the likes of Sundar Pichai at Alphabet Inc, Satya Nadella at Microsoft. Apart from Twitter, Parag Agrawal has worked for other top tech companies like Microsoft, Yahoo and AT&T Labs.

Parag Agrawal is an alumnus of IIT, Bombay and Stanford. On his reaction to being appointed Twitter CEO, he tweeted that he is “honored and humbled” and expressed gratitude to Jack Dorsey's “continued mentorship and your friendship.”

At IIT Bombay, Parag Agrawal studied B Tech in Computer Science and Engineering. he went on to get his PhD from Stanford University.
