Full-blown PC games 'XCOM: Enemy Unknown' and 'The Cave' are heading for iOS devices soon; in the case of award-winning strategy game 'XCOM,' as soon as July 20.
Successfully reviving a classic franchise, 'XCOM: Enemy Unknown' delivered a strategy experience that worked on both consoles and PC without major alterations made between the versions.
Developer Firaxis had announced a tablet optimization of 'XCOM: Enemy Unknown' in March, following a late 2012 debut, and the title is now to be delivered to iOS devices, with multiplayer pending a free future update.
An initial $20 price tag is high for an iOS game, putting it in 'Final Fantasy' and 'Idolm@ster' territory, but Firaxis is at pains to point out that the title is nearly identical to its more expensive Mac, PC and console brethren.
Adventure game 'The Cave' is a more recent release, dispensed by Double FIne and created by Ron Gilbert of 'Monkey Island' and 'Maniac Mansion' fame.
Following a multiplatform January debut on console, Mac and PC, 'The Cave' is to arrive on iOS this northern Summer according to TouchGen's time with an iPad build at E3, though a precise price and date remain unspecified.
