Meet Ranger, a car that runs on metal, air and water

Ranger is a prototype car that is powered by unique combination of metal, air and water. It also uses Graphene as one of the materials instead of lithium.

The new battery technology has been developed Log9 Materials, a three-year-old nanotech start-up. The company aims to make graphene more commercially viable. Prior to metal-air battery, Log9 has launched graphene-based products such as Cigarette filter PpuF and Oil Sorbent Pads.

Log9's metal-air battery features metal (aluminum) as anode whereas oxygen (air) as the cathode. Water is used as electrolyte. Graphene is said to improve the battery efficiency. The startup is now working to make the prototype battery more compact and efficient for different cars. Log9 hopes to make the device commercially available in next couple of years.
