Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 22000.194 arrives on the Beta Channel

For all the Windows Insider members who are a part of the Beta or Release Preview Channel, the Windows 11 Preview Build 22000.194 is here. This new build comes with a host of fixes for issues affecting older builds along with new app refreshes. The Windows 11 Preview Build 22000.194 essentially brings you closer to the final build of Windows 11 that is going to officially roll out to the public next month.

The Windows 11 Preview Build 22000.194 brings in some big new apps that we are going to see on Windows 11, like the Calculator, Snipping Tool, and Clock apps are now making their way to non-Dev Channel Insiders finally. The Clock app, in particular, no longer just tells time, it includes the highly-touted Focus Sessions feature that has been designed by Microsoft to help you stay on task and get serenaded by your favourite songs.

And speaking of fixes, the Windows 11 Preview Build 22000.194 brings in a lot of them and here’s a list:

- The issue where if you enable then disabled a contrast theme, it would lead to artifacts in title bars has been addressed. This would, in some cases, make the minimise/maximise/close buttons hard to see and use.

- There was a crash occurring with certain connected devices resulting in them not being able to use Bluetooth, that has been fixed.

- The issue that was leading to subtitles not appearing when expected in certain apps, particularly Japanese language subtitles, has been fixed.

- An issue that was causing certain PCs to bugcheck during modern standby has been mitigated.

- Typing with certain 3rd party IMEs into the search box in Settings was sometimes resulting in the candidate window being rendered elsewhere on-screen (not attached to the search box) and/or characters inserted into the search box not displaying - this has been fixed with the new build.

- Microsoft has fixed an issue that causes PowerShell to create an infinite number of child directories. As the company explained in the blog post, this issue occurred when you used the PowerShell Move-Item command to move a directory to one of its children. As a result, the volume fills up and the system stops responding.

- The new build includes a change that aligns the enforcement of the Windows 11 system requirements on Virtual Machines (VMs) to be the same as it is for physical PCs. Previously created VMs running Insider Preview builds may not update to the latest preview builds. In Hyper-V, VMs need to be created as a Generation 2 VM.
