Windows 11 release date revealed? Leaked Intel document indicates when you may be able to update or download it

Windows 11 release date is a secret? Or is it? There have been many reports about it, but now, the source is quite impeccable. According to leaked Intel document, it is being suggested that Windows 11 release date is in October and that is when everyone can download it. At the moment Windows 11 is available to Windows Insiders as an early build, which is not the final version that will be released. For the final version to be released, all that Microsoft has done is say that the Windows 11 update will be in the "fall".

Windows 11 is Microsoft’s biggest upgrade for PCs since it rolled out Windows 10 back in 2015. It was announced last month. Despite the controversies around Windows 11 compatibility with existing PCs, users have been waiting for the next version of Windows. According to a new report from Windows Latest, Intel’s latest release notes for a GPU driver have referenced the upcoming operating system, which indicates that it could be released as part of an update in October, 2021, for eligible devices. At this point, Microsoft has not even released beta builds of the operating system, although it is believed that they will arrive later this month.

Windows 11 could release in October

When Windows 11 releases later this year, it is expected to come as part of the October 2021 update, according to the report. Microsoft labels their major updates with the year and the ‘half’ when it was released – for example, the October 2020 release is called 20H2, while the October 2021 update is expected to be called the 21H2 update.

As the report explains, the DCH GPU driver version 30.0.100.9684 points to Windows 11’s October update. A Microsoft employee has previously stated that the upcoming version of Windows will continue to bear the same format in terms of updates, so users can expect to see the same versions such as 22H1 and 22H2 next year as well.

What about Windows 10?

Windows 11 is likely not going to be compatible with several PCs thanks to stringent new hardware requirements set by Microsoft and that means many users might be left out when the upgrade actually rolls out.

In order to keep existing users happy, Microsoft has promised updates for Windows 10 all the way through 2025. This means that users on Windows 10 will also see the 21H2 update released later this year, minus new features, but with the usual performance improvements and bug fixes that accompany such major updates.
