Intel takes on Apple again with new Mac vs PC ads, this time they star the “I’m a Mac” guy

Mac vs PC ads are not new and we’ve already seen a few of them. Intel has now decided to up the ante a little further and has hired “I’m a Mac” actor Justin Long to create new ads that praise the PC.

The actor, who has earlier starred in Apple commercials, is now seen starting off these new commercials with - “Hello, I’m a… Justin” - in front of the typical white background we’ve seen on Apple’s Mac vs PC ads in the 2000s.

The new ads from Intel take on the Mac vs PC angle again and you see Long mocking Apple’s Touch Bar, the lack of multiple monitor support in M1 Macs and the “gray and grayer” colour options for the MacBooks.

One of the ads also pulls up the lack of touchscreens in Macs or 2-in-1 support and points out that you need to buy a tablet, a keyboard, a stylus and even a dongle to “match” what’s available on Intel-based laptops. Intel has also pointed out in another ad that “no one really games on a Mac”.

Justin Long’s return to Mac vs PC ads comes just months after Apple brought back actor John Hodgman to reprise his role as the PC guy in the “I’m a Mac, and I’m a PC” ads. Apple, however, limited this reprisal to the keynote address that introduced the Arm-based M1 Macs.

Intel has taken things forward to bring on full commercials.

Clearly, Intel plans to battle Apple’s in-house chips with marketing. And all this while we wait for Intel to respond to the M1 chips with their own silicon advances. Intel has only furnished benchmarks so far and the new CEO, Pat Gelsinger, has “made it clear” that Intel has to beat Apple in the future.
