Apple WWDC 2022: iOS 16 released! Check new features, upgrades and supported devices

After much anticipation, iOS 16 has finally been released. The weeks of rumors and leaks were finally confirmed when the next generation operating system was announced at the Apple WWDC 2022 keynote session. The Apple Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC 2022) opened with CEO Tim Cook taking the stage and announced new iOS 16. The operating system comes with a plethora of new features like interactive widgets, new apps and more. Check out everything you need to know about iOS 16. iOS 16: Features and upgrades

iOS 16 has arrived with "the biggest update ever" for the lock screen which has Apple Watch-style widgets and colors. The date and time fonts and colors have also been changed with a bunch of filters too.

Craig Federighi, head of software, showed that the new iOS 16 will let iPhone users will be able to change the lock screen by pressing-and-holding. The elements of the lock screen can also be changed by just tapping on it.

There's also widgets on the lock screen borrowed from the Apple Watch. There's calendar, activity, weather and much more which users can personalized as per their preferences.

iOS 16 has brought three major changes to messages wherein users will be able to edit messages when they misspell something or can "undo send" as well as mark a message as unread so that they can come back to it later.

Additionally, Apple has also improved dictation feature that will allow users to switch between voice and touch much more easily. One can tap on the microphone and type while talking as the keyboard will remain available. The new feature will also start automatically adding dictation to the text, Apple says. "Mind-blown emoji!"

That's not all , there are array of new improved features from more detailed Apple Maps, Apple Pay later, live text and translation, to iCloud shared photo library, family sharing and much more have also been announced to arrive with iOS 16. Users will also get features like Safety Check, updated Home app, CarPlay changes and security updates.
