New Google Groups interface rolling out to all G Suite users on Sept 15

The new version Google Groups came out of beta and officially launched earlier this year in May. But the new interface of Google Groups could be turned off by group admins. Google is now changing that and making the new Groups default for all G Suite users.

The new change will take place starting September 15 next week. With the latest update, Google will remove the admin console setting that allows admins to turn off the new Groups interface for users. In addition to this, G Suite users who were previously seeing the old interface will now see the new Groups. But Google is still giving the option to users to switch to the old version. This is possible by selecting the option “Return to classic Google Groups” from the settings menu.

Google in a blog post explained that the reason behind making this change is because the new Groups “has a more efficient and streamlined user interface, which makes it easier for users to create and manage groups”. The new UI also brought some of the classic Groups features such as reading group conversations and writing messages, consolidated settings for improved navigation, quick simplified group creation and more. Google said it has added even more features to the new Groups which have been the most requested by users. These include a new mobile interface, collaborative inboxes and labels.

The new update on Google Groups for G Suite users will start rolling out on September 15. Google says it will take around 1 to 3 days for all users to start seeing the new Google Groups UI.
