'Street Fighter V' trailer teases retro return

Expected to arrive in 2015, 'Street Fighter V' introduces new moves and a return for at least one legacy character, as teased in the game's second trailer.

Chinese Interpol agent Chun-Li and Japanese martial arts student Ryu serve to show off the spectacle and skill that Capcom intends to invoke with the next entry to its long-running 'Street Fighter' series.

First established with 1987's original arcade cabinet 'Street Fighter,' the series took off in the early '90s with 'Street Fighter II' and its various home console and computer game editions.

As such, 'Street Fighter V' will be the 20th entry to Capcom's core 'Street Fighter' series, and the presence of Chun-Li and Ryu -- both staples since 'Street Fighter II' -- telegraphs the publisher's awareness of how recognizable the game still is after all these years.

A third, lesser known character, lurking at the end of the extended video allows Capcom to start positioning 'Street Fighter V' as a title able to build upon the series' comprehensive history: US serviceman Charlie was referenced in 'Street Fighter II' but his appearances were limited to the 'Street Fighter Alpha' spin-off trilogy (1995-1998) and a couple of other crossovers.

The game has been announced for PlayStation 4 and Windows PC, with a platform-agnostic online mode that allows players from both communities to match up against each other, and is anticipated for release in 2015.
