Working professionals know that their PF or Provident Fund account is a important aspect of financial life. While it is more like an investment for the post retirement era, funds can also be withdrawn and used on in various ways such as home loans and education loans, among others. For doing that, PF account holders need to know their EPF account balance - how much money do they ahve in their PF account. Employees' Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO), the organisation that manages the Employees' Provident Fund (EPF) has made it easier for EPFO members to access their provident fund (PF) related information in recent times. So, here we show you how to check your PF balance online.

Check PF balance via SMS

If you have integrated your UAN with your KYC details, you can send a text message to get your PF balance details. Here's what you need to do:

Step 1: Type EPFOHO UAN ENG or EPFOHO UAN HIN into the text box and send it to 7738299899. The last three digits being for the language of choice. This SMS must be sent from the registered mobile number.

Step 2: After this message, you will get a message with your PF account balance.

Notably, this facility is available in ten Indian languages including English, Hindi, Punjabi, Gujarati, Marathi, Kannada, Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam and Bengali.

Check PF account balance via missed call method

You can also check your PF account balance by giving a missed call via your registered mobile number. Here's what you need to do:

Step 1: Give a single missed call to 011-22901406 from your EPF - registered mobile number.

Step 2: Your EPF - registered mobile number will get a balance notification after the missed call.

Check PF account balance via the official website

Alternatively, you can also check your PF account balance via the EPFO's official website. Here's what you need to do:

Step 1: Visit the EPFO's official website (epfindia.gov.in) and click the e-Passbook link.

Step 2: Enter the UAN number and password of the Provident Fund account holder.

Step 3: Now click on the View Passbook option to see your account balance.

Check PF account balance via Umang app

You can also check the PF account balance using the Indian government's Umang app. Here's what you need to do:

Step 1: Open the Umang app on your smartphone and click on EPFO option.

Step 2: Now, click on 'employee-centric services'.

Step 3: In the following page click on 'view passbook' option.

Step 4: Now enter your UAN and one-time password (OTP).
