Transsion Holdings launches new smartphone brand Tecno post itel success

China's Transsion Holdings, which sells budget smartphones under the brand itel, launched a new mid-segment smartphone brand named Tecno.

Tecno, which will start with its i-series in India at a price bracket of ₹7,990 to ₹14,990, will sell the i5, i5 Pro, i3, i3 Pro and i7 handsets. While the i7 handset, a flagship model, will go on sale in May, all the other handsets will hit the market on April 22.

In terms of specifications, the dual SIM dual standby and 4G VoLTE offering i7 priced at ₹14,990, will come with a 5.5-inch Full HD display and will be powered by 1.5GHz octa-core processor. The Tecno i7 will sport a 4GB RAM unit. The device, which runs on Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box, will draw power from a 4,000 mAh battery unit. In terms of optics, the i7 comes with a 13-megapixel rear camera and a 16-megapixel selfie camera.

The Tecno Mobile i3 and i3 Pro comes with same design and specifications except the RAM. The Tecno Mobile i3 is priced at ₹7,990 whereas the Tecno Mobile i3 Pro costs ₹9,990. They come with a 5-inch HD (1280 x 720 pixels) IPS display. While the Tecno Mobile i3 packs 2GB of RAM, the Tecno Mobile i3 Pro includes 3GB of RAM. Both these devices include 16GB of internal storage and 8-megapixel front and rear cameras. The Tecno Mobile i3 andi3 Pro are backed by a 3,050mAh battery, and the i3 Pro comes with a fingerprint sensor.

The Tecno Mobile i5 and i5 Pro that are priced at ₹11,490 and ₹12,990 respectively. Both the phones come with a MediaTek MT6737T coupled with 2GB/3GB of RAM respectively. The internal memory is 16GB for i5 and 32GB for the i5 Pro. Both the devices come with a 5.5-inch HD IPS display with a fingerprint sensor and home button under the display. In the camera department, there is a 13-megapixel rear camera and a 8-megapixel front camera. Both the phones will draw power from a 4,000mAh battery.

The Tecno Mobile i3 and i5 devices will be available in Champagne Gold, Sky Black, and Space Grey color options. In the initial stage, the company will be limited to Punjab, Rajasthan, and Gujarat. The company has mentioned selling through 129 distributors in these three states and has more than 10,000 touch points.
