WhatsApp has been working on introducing the WhatsApp shortcut feature for quite some time now. In the past, numerous reports have detailed that the company was planning to add a feature to the iPhone's share sheet functionality that would enable users to access their WhatsApp contacts directly within the social media app that they are using.

To give you some context, the iPhone's share sheet enables users to share content with iMessages and Facebook Messenger users only. The Facebook-owned messaging platform is planning to add a new feature that would enable users to access their most used WhatsApp contact directly from the iPhone's share sheet functionality.

As per a report by WABetaInfo, the blog site that extensively tracks developments in WhatsApp, the company has introduced this feature in WhatsApp beta for iPhone version 2.20.80.23.

If you are an iPhone user, here's how you can enable this functionality:

Step 1: Upgrade WhatsApp on your iPhone to version 2.20.80.23.

Step 2: If you are using Face ID in WhatsApp, disable it. Here how: Go to WhatsApp Settings > Account > Privacy > Screen Lock > toggle it off.

Step 3: Now send a message (any message) to one of your WhatsApp contacts.

Now every time you send a WhatsApp message, a shortcut will automatically be created and added to your share sheet.

However, there is a catch. This function doesn't work if WhatsApp's Screen Lock feature is enabled. So, you will have to keep the feature disabled if you share content from other social media platform with your WhatsApp contacts frequently.
