Asus Zenfone 8 Flip with rotating cameras, compact Zenfone 8 launched

Asus has launched two new smartphones - Zenfone 8 and Zenfone 8 Flip. One is a compact flagship while the other offers a unique rotating camera mechanism. Asus has made the Zenfone 8 series official in Europe and Taiwan, and is expected to launch in other markets soon.

Asus Zenfone 8 starts at €670 ( ₹59,600 approx) for the base model but it will be available at an introductory price of €600 ( ₹53,400 approx). The smartphone comes in four colour options of Obsidian Black, Horizon Silver, and Moonlight White. Asus Zenfone 8 Flip gets a price tag of €800 ( ₹71,200 approx) for the base model. This phone has two colour options of Galactic Black and Glacier Silver.

Asus Zenfone 8 has a 5.9-inch Samsung AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate which is HDR 10 and HDR10+ certified, and has Gorilla Glass Victus screen protection. The smartphone has a dual-camera setup at the rear with a 64-megapixel Sony IMX686 primary sensor, and a 12-megapixel Sony IMX363 ultra wide angle lens. For selfies, there’s a 12-megapixel front camera.

Under the hood of the phone runs Qualcomm’s flagship Snapdragon 888 processor paired with Adreno 660 GPU. On the software front, Zenfone 8 runs Android 11 out-of-the-box. The smartphone comes with four RAM options of 6GB, 8GB, 12GB and 16GB, and storage options of 64GB, 128GB and 256GB. Asus Zenfone 8 is also equipped with 5G, Wi-Fi 6/6E, NFC, Bluetooth 5.2, and is IP68 certified.

Asus Zenfone 8 Flip has a bigger 6.67-inch AMOLED display with Gorilla Glass 6 protection, and a 90Hz refresh rate. This phone too is powered by the Snapdragon 888 processor paired with 8GB of RAM and up to 256GB of internal storage. It offers the same cameras as the Zenfone 8 along with an 8-megapixel telephoto lens at the rear. The cameras flip to the front for selfies. Asus Zenfone 8 Flip packs a 5,000mAh battery with support for Quick Charge 4.0.
