Xiaomi 12 India launch now tipped for April 2022

Xiaomi India is currently readying the Xiaomi 11i series but leaks have already started talking about the company's flagship Xiaomi 12 series. Previous leaks had suggested that the Xiaomi 12 series could launch early in 2022, starting with the Xiaomi 12X. However, a new leak now suggests that Xiaomi may bring these phones to India by March/April 2022.

The March/April launch for the Xiaomi 12 series coincides with the launch of the Xiaomi Mi 11 series launch from last year. A global launch of these devices is expected to happen in late February/early March, and India will get them after that. Note that Xiaomi is yet to unveil the Xiaomi 12 Ultra, the expected successor to the Mi 11 Ultra.

Based on the report from 91Mobiles, it seems that Xiaomi India would like to tackle the launches from OnePlus and Samsung. This year, the entire lineup could make it to India, which is in stark contrast to the last year's lineup. The Mi 11X and Mi 11X Pro were essentially rebranded variants of the Redmi K40 series; the Mi 11 never made it to India.

This year though, it is said that Xiaomi India could bring the Xiaomi 12 models as it is to our shores. The Xiaomi 12X could attain a lower price similar to the Mi 11X with its Snapdragon 870 chip. The Xiaomi 12 and Xiaomi 12 Pro could be Xiaomi's answer to the likes of the Samsung Galaxy S22 and Apple iPhone 13 series.

The Xiaomi 12 and Xiaomi 12 Pro are both based on the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chip but vary in terms of display size and camera sensors. The Xiaomi 12 is a compact phone with a 6.2-inch AMOLED display whereas the Xiaomi 12 Pro has a large 6.7-inch 2K AMOLED display. The latter also has support for 120W fast wired charging.
