Facebook app updated on iPad with Slide Over, Split Screen features

Facebook is introducing two new features for its Apple iPad users. The social media giant’s updated app for iPadOS now brings multitasking support, meaning users can have two apps running simultaneously on the iPad. This is possible since the app now supports Split Screen and Slide Over features of the tablet.

In the Split Screen view, iPad users can open the Facebook app side by side along with other apps, which will definitely help you in copy-pasting the URL of a webpage and sharing it with others on Facebook, all without leaving the app. On the other hand, the Slide Over feature lets you open the Facebook application over other apps. The version in which you will see these features is v269.0.

That said, the app is yet to support mouse implementation of iPad, multiple windows and drag-drop.

Facebook has just rolled out the Dark Mode for its web interface to all the users worldwide. “We've grown since Facebook.com launched 16 years ago...Recently we'd focused on the mobile Facebook experience, and realized our desktop site had fallen behind. People need it to keep up," Facebook wrote in a blog post.

The introduction of Dark Mode is one of the most noticeable changes that users will see in the redesigned website. “The new immersive layout along with Dark Mode makes viewing videos on Watch a great experience," Facebook wrote in a blog post. This comes along with a cleaner and more streamlined look. The focus of the new look is on making it easier for users to find videos, games and groups.

The redesigned website also makes it easier for users to create events, pages, groups and ads on Facebook. Users can now preview a new group that they are starting in real time. They can also see what it looks like on mobile before they create it.
