LG brings Artificial Intelligence to TVs in India: Everything you need to know

LG is one of the first major technology companies to embrace Artificial Intelligence. Most of its new devices including phones are now powered by its custom AI platform, ThinQ. The company is now aiming at India's TV segment with its latest range of AI-powered smart TVs.

LG on Monday launched 25 TVs under different categories like OLED, Super UHD, UHD and Smart TVs - all running on ThinQ Artificial Intelligence platform. LG's ThinQ AI TVs start at ₹32,500 (32-inch) and goes up to ₹29,49,990 (77-inch) across all models.

What does AI bring to the table?
"Artificial intelligence is definitely the road ahead for all our future products. AI functionality backed up with extensive research is incorporated in televisions with an aim of delivering a unique and more intuitive experience. As a matter of fact, we have taken a step ahead to implement AI function across our range of smart televisions…," said Younchul Park, Director-Home Entertainment, LG Electronics India.

LG ThinQ AI's primary feature is voice control powered by Natural Language Processing (NLP). LG says that its AI-powered TVs not only understand fixed voice commands but also "the intent of query before providing a search result". The TVs are also equipped with over 800 commands which work without internet connectivity.

LG ThinQ AI also features 'Mobile Connection Overlay' which allows users to view the same content on their smartphones and the TV simultaneously. Users can also access Google Photos and Google Drive on the TV. ALSO READ: LG G7 ThinQ flagship smartphone with AI at its core launched

High on specs, features
There's also a two-way Bluetooth feature which lets users connect the TV audio to a wireless device, and also connect their smartphones to the TV to listen to music.

Talking about the new TVs launched today, the OLED TVs are powered by Alpha 9 processor, while the Super UHD TVs run Alpha 7 processors under the hood. LG says that the new Alpha 9 processors are capable of producing images at 120 frames per second for sports and action movies.

LG's OLED and Super UHD TVs are equipped with Dolby Atmos 360-degree sound, Dolby Vision, and supports the full palette of HDR including advanced HDR, HDR10 Pro and HLG Pro. These TVs are accompanied by the company's 'Magic Remote' which features single click access, universal control, scroll, point and click, and more.
