Paytm Mini Apps Developers Conference (Paytm)

Paytm is now having its own Mini Apps Developers Conference on October 8, 2020. The digital payments platform plans to invite indigenous developers, startups and tech companies to develop their mini apps and also learn about best practices to increase the reach of their products and services. The selected apps will also be making way to Paytm's Android Mini App Store and won’t be charged any extra fee. “For payments, developers will be able to give a choice of Paytm Wallet, Paytm Payments Bank, UPI, net-banking and Cards to their users,” states the firm.

The payments firm says that the apps can reach their 150 million monthly active users, giving developers a chance to bring their products to a large number of users from a single platform. “More than 300 app-based service providers such as Decathalon, Ola, Park+, Rapido, Netmeds, 1MG, Domino's Pizza, FreshMenu, NoBroker have already joined the program,” adds Paytm.

The conference will have Paytm CEO and founder Vijay Shekhar Sharma giving an opening keynote followed by Paytm Mini App: Product demo and technology roadmap presentation, discussion on the “Future of the app ecosystem and why India should control its own destiny.”

One can attend the conference by registering for it at the company’s dedicated website.

This comes a just a day after the firm’s Paytm First Games (PFG) announced that it will provide a launchpad to indigenous developers and design studios to promote their games focused on Indian culture and folk tales. As per the firm, this will provide an opportunity to studios for building titles, which will promote gamified learning on Indian heritage, mythology and sporting history.

All these moves by Paytm seems to be an after effect of it being pulled by Google from Play Store for apparently violating the guidelines, followed by the search giant asking 30% fee from apps that don’t use its payment gateway. At the time when the app was removed from Play Store, CEO Vijay Shekhar Sharma did express his anger in an interview, claiming that Google is arm twisting developers at its own will.
