Sony to build a PS5 inventory because of ‘unprecedented’ demand

PlayStation 5 (PS5) has been Sony’s biggest console launch till date with it being sold out in most places and not even having arrived at many others.

Playstation 5 (PS5) has been the biggest console launch for Sony, ever, and the company has said that they will be adding more PS5 inventory before the end of the year owing to unprecedented demand for the console.

Sony has not mentioned how many of the PS5 consoles have been sold though, but the company did announce on social media that it has been a record launch.

“We want to thank gamers everywhere for making the PS5 launch our biggest console launch ever. Demand for PS5 is unprecedented, so we wanted to confirm that more PS5 inventory will be coming to retailers before the end of the year - please stay in touch with your local retailers,” the official PlayStation account tweeted.

The PS5 console went on sale in the US, Canada, Mexico, Japan, Australia, New Zealand and South Korea on November 12. The global rollout happened on November 19 and covered Europe, Middle East, South America, South Africa and Asia. The console is yet to release in India though the prices have already been announced for the subcontinent.

“We are overwhelmed by the positive enthusiasm surrounding PS5. As communicated previously, availability in each country is subject to, among other things, local import regulations, and our local teams are working through the logistics,” read an official post shared by the PS5 India account.

“To confirm, Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE) has not announced a launch date for PS5 in India. We will share an update on launch date for India as soon as more information becomes available; meanwhile please continue to monitor the official PlayStation channels,” Sony added.

The PS5 comes in two variants, the gaming console is priced at 49,990 while the digital edition is priced at 39,990 in India.
