SBI account holder? Bank wants you to do your Aadhaar, PAN linking now

SBI has advised its customers to link their Aadhaar with PAN by visiting the official website of Income Tax dept, which is incometax.gov.in.

Aadhaar-PAN linking: The State Bank of India (SBI) has advised its customers to link their Permanent Account Number (PAN) with Aadhaar card to avoid any kind of inconvenience. It can be noted that the central government has extended the deadline recently. Aadhaar-PAN linking last date is March 31, 2022 now. Though there are millions of people who have linked these two important documents, but those who have not linked yet, should know that this is mandatory. If not linked, PAN will be rendered inoperative/inactive and cannot be quoted for conducting specified transactions.

The Aadhaar-PAN linking information was provided by SBI over its official Twitter handle where it said, "We advise our customers to link their PAN with Aadhaar to avoid any inconvenience and continue enjoying a seamless banking service." Any person who holds a PAN is eligible to get Aadhaar or if they already have an Aadhar, then it is important to inform the Income Tax Department on the same. Therefore it is important to link Aadhaar to PAN.

The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) issues a unique 12 digit number which is mentioned on the Aadhaar card of a citizen. The number can be used to access the details of the cardholder like contact information, biometric details, etc.

If you have not linked your PAN to Aadhaar yet, you can do so by following the below mentioned steps. However, before doing so you need to keep ready the following prerequisites with you- Valid PAN, Aadhar number and a valid mobile number.

Step 1: Visit the official website of Income Tax India or click on the link- www.incometax.gov.in.

Step 2: You will now have to click on the option 'Link Aadhar' mentioned under Quick Links on the home page.

Step 3: As you will click on the link a new page will open asking you to fill in certain details like your PAN, Aadhaar Number, name as per aadhaar, and mobile number.

Step 4: After you fill in all the details click on 'Link Aadhaar'.

Step 5: A message will pop up informing that your Aadhaar has been successfully linked to PAN.
