The objective of the Chandrayaan-4 mission is to move around a really heavy rover on the lunar grounds, survive the lunar night and find water. The sole purpose of the mission would be to conduct in-depth research about the lunar surface in the polar region.

Finding water on the Moon is integral for the mission and for various other problems that it could solve. As per experts, the polar region consists of water which could be used for future space missions. With lunar water, space missions can aim at going to farther planets.

According to JAXA, “Analyses of various observational data over recent years suggest that water may be present in the lunar polar regions, the lunar polar regions being those areas around the Moon's north and south poles. If water can be found in these regions, it could be used as an energy source for future human activities on the Moon.
