Last week, 9to5Mac.com's Mark Gurman reported that Apple will allegedly announce a larger 12.9-inch iPad Pro at Apple's September 9 event. Hot on the heels of that scoop, Gurman has another: the iPad Pro, he reports, will be a "monster" with specs that go far beyond any iPad that currently exists. '
First off, the iPad Pro will ship with a base model of 64 GB, unlike the 16 GB base models on the current iPads. There will, naturally, be a 128 GB model (and, we think, possibly a 256 GB model). It will also be the first tablet to ship with iOS 9.1
iOS 9 includes a split-screen view for iPad apps but they way it does it right now is essentially by shrinking two apps side-by-side. Not the Pro. Gorman says that the Pro will run two full-sized iPad apps next to each other, thanks to more RAM and an A9X chip that will be a "large leap" over the A8X on the iPad Air 2.
It will also have four stereo speakers for loud, booming sound.
Interestingly, the iPad Pro is rumoured to support a Force-Touch stylus and/or a brand new keyboard, but Gurman says that Apple has decided not to bundle these with the device but sell them separately instead.
Finally, the iPad Pro will be expensive, with the price of the highest end versions coming close to a MacBook Air, which is close to $1,000. Oh well.
