Galaxy S5 to be available in India from April 11, price starting at ₹51,000

In India, the Galaxy S5 will be available in four colours - black, white, blue and gold. The phone with 5.1 inch display is waterproof and dustproof. It comes with 16 megapixel rear camera and has 21 hours talk time battery.

South Korean electronics major Samsung unveiled Galaxy S5, its flagship Android phone, in India. Priced between ₹ 51,000-₹ 53,000, it will be available in the market from April 11.

'This smartphone is targeted at the working professionals with a hectic lifestyle and also at style-crazy people,' Vineet Taneja, country head, IT and mobile division of Samsung India, told reporters on the sidelines of the launch.

He said the actual price of the phone will be announced April 11. The pre-booking for the product will start from March 29.

Talking about the price range of the phone, Taneja said the company will help customers finance it through affordable EMIs or buyback offers.

The company now has 3.5 crore users of Galaxy devices in India.

He said the phone is now 3G compatible but 'when proper 4G network will be available in the country, we will be ready with the devices (4G compatible).'

Along with Galaxy S5, the company also released wearable lines - Galaxy Gear 2, Galaxy Gear 2 Neo and Gear Fit.

Galaxy Gear 2 has been priced at ₹ 21,900 while Gear 2 Neo and Gear Fit are priced at ₹ 15,900.
