Google Maps' new feature called Lists is here. The new feature lets you mark places on Google Maps via the Android or iOS app and then share the list with friends.

Here are five reasons why the new feature come in handy:

Helps plan a trip

Whether you are going for an international holiday or planning a quick road trip, Lists can help you save a list of places that you are interested in beforehand and will give you a head start once you have arrived to your destination.

Lists can be built around a specific event ("Spring Break" or "Portland trip 2017") and include all the places you want to hit up. If you want to go down memory lane after your vacation, you can always look back and scroll through. Sharing the list also helps people back at home know where you are going in case of an emergency. Also, if you are in a group, the list connects everyone and keeps them updated.

Help out out-of-towners by recommending places

You can end up marking your list of favourite places in your city that may include yout favorite museums, parks, restaurants, bars and such in your local area is a quick way to recommend places to friends who are visiting and looking for things to do.

If you're into homestaying (like Airbnb or an Oyo), you can share the lists with upcoming guests as well.

Lists can be further categorised and think lists like: "Happy Hour Places," "Coffee Shops to Try," "Nomming for Restaurant Week" and "Favorite Hiking Trails" can be created to help friends, your followers and family.

Organise your life

Lists can make your navigation easier. If you create a list with contacts that you know you travel to most often, then you can just open it up instead of going to a contact card and setting your phone on navigation.

On a similar note, you can make short-lived lists if you know you're going to be driving around all day. This will cut down on the time you spend in your car pecking out the next address you have to go too ("Weekend errands," "Christmas shopping," "Pick-up orders for Thanksgiving").

And with a public link, you can share across social media sites to send them to your followers or members of said community. This could also be a money-maker for some people.
