Huawei’s online-only brand Honor launched a new smartphone in India today. Called Honor Play, the new phone is aimed at gaming enthusiasts. The smartphone comes with top-of-the-line specifications and will compete with the likes of OnePlus 6 and Samsung Galaxy S9. The phone is available in two colour options: Midnight Black and Navy Blue. Honor Play comes in two variants - 4GB RAM + 64GB storage and 6GB RAM + 64GB storage, priced at ₹19,999 and ₹23,999 respectively. It has a slim 7.48mm body and retains 3.5mm headphone jack. The phone has a 19:5:9 display. The phone is available in Midnight Black and Navy Blue.

The phone runs on Android Oreo-based custom EMUI OS. It has 3D facial recognition. The company also announced the launch of Hi Touch, an AI shopping feature. Essentially, customers can point the camera at an item and look up on Amazon.
Honor Play: iPhone X-like portrait mode
The phone comes with studio lighting, similar to Apple's iPhone X. It has several AR filters. There's also an AI-enabled gallery, which can categorise photos based on people, location and more, similar to Google Photos. Users can also search photos in the gallery.
Honor Play: Low-light photography
The phone will soon get an AI stablisation mode. The company claims the mode will help users take better photos in low-light without using a tripod.

Honor Play comes with 16MP + 2MP camera with AI capabilities. It comes with 22 object categories and over 500 scenarios to detect using the AI on-board.

The phone comes with 3D audio feature for gaming. It has a gaming suite as well.

Honor Play comes with 3,750mAh battery with fast charge support. It has dual-SIM (dual VoLTE). It has top-end 6GB RAM.
Honor Play: Dedicated NPU, GPU Turbo
Aimed at improving performance on the phone, a dedicated NPU helps improving battery efficiency. The GPU Turbo allows better gaming experience on the phone. The technology also helps improve average frame per second without draining a lot of battery. Honor says GPU Turbo allows users to play games for longer sessions than any other phone.
Honor Play: Fast
Honor Play comes with Kirin 970 processor. The chipset has been designed and developed in-house and is a top-end processor from Huawei. Kirin 970 is also touted as the world's first chipset with Artificial Intelligence capabilities.
