Dubbed Spartan, Microsoft's new browser is positioned as an alternative to Internet Explorer rather than a replacement, according to a report on ZDNet. The software giant is expected to roll out the new browser with Windows 10.

Rather than yet another version of Internet Explorer, Spartan is set to be an entirely new product. More lightweight and user friendly, Spartan is said to look and feel more like Chrome and Firefox. To be available on PC and mobile terminals through Windows 10, Microsoft's new browser will rely on the company's in-house tech: the Chakra JavaScript engine and Trident rendering engine.
