Your WhatsApp Status likely to get big makeover in an upcoming update
WhatsApp Status hasn't received a lot of attention since it was launched in 2017, but the company could be preparing to give it big improvements in an upcoming update. Users will be able to view Status from their profiles and choose to see either the profile photo or the Status – to similar to Twitter's Fleets feature that is now defunct.
Reddit goes down for 90 mins, users flock to Twitter to complain
Were you unable to access Reddit earlier today? The popular online social news aggregator and content sharing website suffered from downtime. The service was down for 90 minutes. This lead to hundreds of Reddit users taking to Twitter to complain about the outage, hoping things would resume to normal soon. However, the issues were resolved and the service was eventually restored, much to the relief of many a Reddit user.
Google Pixel 6 could sport Samsung’s 50MP GN1 camera sensor
Thanks to the latest Android 12 Beta, developers have manged to spot clues that could point toward the specs of the upcoming Google Pixel 6 smartphone. Based on information from the Google Camera app on the latest Android 12 Beta 4 build, it looks like the upcoming Pixel 6 with the new Google-made SoC could come with the 50MP Samsung GN1 camera sensor released in 2020.
Instagram launches crackdown against abusive content, hate speech
In a bid to stop targeted harassment of its users, popular image and video sharing service Instagram has announced that it now implement a new set of protections for users (especially public figures) called Limits. The optional feature, when turned on, will automatically hide comments from people you don't follow, as well as comments from any user accounts that have recently started following your account. The Limits feature will also protect users who turn the new feature on, by hiding DM requests from people who they don't follow.
WhatsApp chat transfer between iOS and Android now live
Want to switch to the new Samsung Galaxy Fold 3 or the Galaxy Flip 3 from your iPhone? WhatsApp has announced that you can finally switch between platforms and bring your WhatsApp chats with you. This includes your entire WhatsApp chat history — including voice notes, photos, and conversations — in a seamless and secure way. It should make switching between platforms extremely easy for users who decide they want to get out of the walled garden and vice versa.
Your Twitter account has just changed; Here's what's new
If you sign in to your Twitter account today, you might notice a few things have changed. Don't worry though, it is part of Twitter's new redesign. With changes to both the font and design, the company's app and website have now received subtle upgrades. A notable inclusion is Twitter's new Chirp font that is now a part of the app and the feed.
