OnePlus 6 full specifications spotted online, but is mostly inaccurate
OnePlus 6 specifications have been spotted on HDFC’s website ahead of the launch in India on May 17.
Come May 17 and OnePlus will launch its new flagship smartphone - OnePlus 6 - in India. Ahead of the launch, the smartphone has made headlines for its new design including an Apple iPhone X-like notch display. The smartphone which will take on the likes of LG G7 ThinQ, Samsung Galaxy S9 and other premium Android phones has made an appearance on HDFC's shopping web page, revealing more key specifications of the smartphone.
Note that these are not official OnePlus 6 specifications. Some of the specifications mentioned on HDFC's page seems believable but there are a few things that it has gotten wrong. For instance, the listing mentions OnePlus 6 will have a single camera set up on the back. It's most likely the phone will have dual-rear camera setup. OnePlus 5T also features dual-rear camera setup consisting of 16-megapixel and 20-megapixel sensors. Therefore, we recommend you to take the information listed on the page with a pinch of salt.
That said, the listing indicates there will be a few schemes for HDFC credit or debit card users. The page also gives a closer look at the upcoming smartphone. Based on the listed image, OnePlus 6 will have a notch-display, but the cut-out seems to be wider than the official image revealed by the company a few days ago.
As expected, the phone has an edge-to-edge display on the front, gently curved corners and slim black bezels on the edges. The image is quite in line with the recent hands-on image of the phone that has been doing the rounds on the internet. According to the listing page, OnePlus 6 will come with a 5.7-inch Super AMOLED display with 3200x1800 pixel resolution and 401ppi pixel density. It will run on Android 8.0 Oreo and features 8GB RAM and 128GB inbuilt storage.
The page also reveals the camera specifications of OnePlus 6. The smartphone will have a 23-megapixel rear camera and dual 16-megapixel sensors on the front. It will be capable of shooting full HD videos at 30fps. Other key features mentioned include 3,500mAh battery, Bluetooth 5.0, USB Type-C with Dash Charge support.
It is worth mentioning here that OnePlus has already confirmed that OnePlus 6 will feature Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor and that there will be a 256GB built-in storage.
OnePlus 6: More details
Apart from top-of-the-line specifications, OnePlus 6 is going to be a big upgrade in terms of design as well. As seen in the listed image, the smartphone will join the hot new trend of phones with notch-display, inspired by Apple's iPhone X.
The company has also confirmed that OnePlus 6 will come with a glass panel on the back. OnePlus aims to differentiate OnePlus 6 from other phones with glass backs with a five-layer nanotech coating.
"The phone has five layers of nanotech coating instead of three, even though the degree of separation between each layer is extremely subtle and tough to discern as the additional layers give the back of the device a stronger impression of depth," OnePlus said in a note.
The company believes the glass is more useful on the back panels of the phones than metal. "The advantages of glass over metal are manifold: glass communicates a transparent, bright, and pure feeling. The way glass transforms under different lighting is a particularly important challenge — the OnePlus design team tested over 70 glass prototypes before selecting the best one," the company said.
OnePlus 6 is set to have an improved slider with new gestures, optimised for the notch screen. The company will also be introducing an Avengers Infinity Wars-themed variant.
OnePlus 6 India launch
OnePlus 6 will launch in India on May 17, a day after the global announcement in New York. The phone will go on sale in India from May 21 exclusively via Amazon.in. The first sale will be only available to Prime subscribers. The company will also be hosting its pop-up events across eight cities in India to allow customers to buy the phone offline.
