Emojis are great but if you send thousands of them at one, they can crash your WhatsApp.

Tech blogger Indrajeet Bhuyan has claimed that the messaging service crashes on Android if a user sends over 4,000 emojis through WhatsApp on Web.

He also notes the message doesn't cause WhatsApp to crash on iOS but freezes the app.

We tried this trick by sending it in a group and most of the users soon left it because their WhatsApp would keep crashing after they received the message.

BHuyan also discovered sending a 2,000-character long message with special characters could crash the app. Which they fixed, but the emoji trick still seems to work.

This is a grave flaw as Bhuyan points out in his blog post, which could make you lose access to the chat which had important information or even evidence. All the culprit would have to do is send a really long string of emojis in a single message.

The flaw has been reported to WhatsApp and most likely will be fixed with an app update. Till then, if you are sent a message that keeps crashing your WhatsApp, just delete the chat. That should make the app go back to functioning normally. Or start using real words for a change.
