This feature is still in development and it will arrive on WhatsApp's Android and iOS-based apps in future.
WhatsApp is one of the most popular messaging platforms in the world. Recent reports have detailed a bunch of new features that are likely to arrive in the Facebook-owned messaging app soon and the list includes support for Instagram Reels and Support Chat Threads among others. Now, a new report talks about another feature that is likely to arrive on WhatsApp soon.
As per a report by WABetaInfo, the blog that tracks development in the messaging app, WhatsApp is working on a feature that will enable users to change the playback speed of the voice messages in the app.

This feature is under development and it will be available in a future update for iOS and Android.
Screenshots will be published here on @WABetaInfo when available in a future beta build.
The report says that this feature is in the testing phase as of now and that it will be available in a future update in the company's Android and iOS-based apps. The blog site hasn't shared any images that would give us a glimpse of how WhatsApp's user interface would look like and what all playback speed options the company is likely to provide. So, we will have to wait for future reports to give us more details about the feature.
It is worth noting that while WhatsApp is working on introducing variable playback speed for voice messages on its platform now, Telegram introduced this feature on its platform back in 2018. The messaging app enables users to play voice messages with 2x speeds. That said, it remains to be seen how WhatsApp implements this feature on its platform.
