Affordable 5G smartphone: Realme GT 5G global launch soon; check likely price

Affordable 5G smartphone: Realme is planning to launch a 5G phone with a price tag of around $100 which translates to roughly ₹7,400. The announcement was made by Realme India and Europe CEO Madhav Sheth at the company’s 5G global summit. Realme GT 5G flagship smartphone global launch has also been confirmed for June, 2021. 

Realme has some big plans for its expansion of 5G smartphones. It plans to have over 20 5G smartphones by 2022 which would account for 70% of its entire product lineup. It already has 14 5G smartphones which takes up 40% of its product portfolio. With this expansion, Realme hopes to have 100 million 5G consumers in the next three years. It also plans to democratise 5G through 10 pop-up stores around the world that will let users experience 5G through cloud gaming, AR, and more.

Realme also announced plans to set up seven 5G R&D centres around the world including India in 2021. It will also invest $300 million in 5G technology research and product development. Realme is targeting three segments of the consumer market with its 5G phones. It will offer budget 5G phones priced under $150 that will be part of its number series. Then there’s the Narzo 5G series that will cater to the gaming segment.

Realme will also launch flagship 5G phones with the Realme GT 5G series. Sheth said it will soon launch a camera-centric phone under the Realme GT series in July. Realme GT 5G is expected to launch in India as well. The smartphone has already made its debut in China.

Realme GT 5G specs

Realme GT 5G features a 6.43-inch full HD+ AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate. The smartphone is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 888 processor paired with up to 12GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage.

On the Realme GT 5G you get a triple rear camera setup with a 64-megapixel Sony IMX682 primary sensor, an 8-megapixel wide angle lens, and a 2-megapixel macro sensor. For selfies, the Realme GT 5G smartphone features a 16-megapixel front camera.

The Realme GT 5G smartphone is fueled by a 4,500mAh battery with support for 65W fast charging.
