Xiaomi MIUI 12 global launch to take place today

Xiaomi earlier this month unveiled MIUI 12 at an event in China. It has now scheduled an event for later today where it will globally launch MIUI 12.

Xiaomi’s event will start at 20:00 pm GMT +8 which is 5:30 pm IST in India. The event will be livestreamed and interested users can follow this link to watch the MIUI 12 global launch. Other than the new features that will come with MIUI 12, Xiaomi is also expected to release the roadmap for devices globally.

In India, Xiaomi had invited pilot testers for Global MIUI 12 ROM but only for the Redmi K20 series. Those interested could enroll in the beta programme to test the pre-release build of MIUI 12. More devices are expected to be added to the list soon.

MIUI 12 is Xiaomi’s latest custom OS and it’s based on Android 10. It comes with a visual revamp while offering a more minimalistic look. MIUI 12 also features new animations which Xiaomi says are faster and more fluid. The company has also improved dark mode on MIUI 12 with new features like wallpaper dimming and font adjustment.

MIUI 12 also brings a host of new live wallpapers with this really cool zooming feature that activates when the phone is unlocked. Smartphones running MIUI 12 will also get a new always-on display feature and floating windows for small app reviews. Xiaomi has also beefed up privacy controls on MIUI 12 and it will now identify apps that abuse permissions and alert users about it.
