YouTube users encounter search bar error on select browsers

YouTube users briefly faced an issue with the search bar as the space bar stopped working, reports TheVerge. The issue occurred on the select browser, and on the web version of YouTube, added the report.

Since the search bar stopped working, users saw a long string of search keywords. It also affected the search results. Soon, many users took to Twitter to point out the error.

As said earlier, the problem occurred only on browsers that were not based on Chrome. For instance, YouTube (.com) on Firefox showed the error across Windows, macOS, and Android. Safari on iPad also faced the error. The mobile version of the platform on Safari worked fine on both iPad and iPhone.

The report pointed out another bug that affected YouTube users. When users tried to watch a video and type in the search bar simultaneously, keystrokes started working as shortcuts. For instance, pressing on the space bar did not do anything on the search but just paused the video. This issue was also later fixed.

Separately, YouTube is making an important change for content creators. The company has informed YouTubers that it would be “required to deduct US taxes from payments to creators outside of the US.” The tax will be deducted from the earnings from US viewers through ad views, YouTube Premium, Super Stickers, Super Chat and Channel Memberships.

“Over the next few weeks, we’ll be asking you to submit your tax info in AdSense to determine the correct amount of taxes to deduct, if any apply. If your tax info isn’t provided by May 31st, 2021, Google may be required to deduct up to 24% of your total earnings worldwide,” said Google in an email to YouTube content creators.
