Mi5 design leaks suggest it’s heavily ‘inspired’ by the Galaxy Edge

Mi5 has been one of the most awaited devices of 2015, but is now expected to launch early January. Having popped up multiple times this month, the Mi5 posed for the camera again. The photos shared on Weibo show the flagship device from Xiaomi sporting a curved screen, curved glass back and a slender, oval fingerprint scanner under the screen. We have to admit though, the device has an uncanny resemblance to the S6 series.

A glimpse of the phone in the leaked video shows the device cradled in a wooden dock. Seen in its white avatar like the previous leak, it suggests the phone's 5.2 inch screen is pressure sensitive. Besides that, it is also expected to come equipped with a 2K resolution to display pictures from a 21 MP camera on the back and 13 MP in the front. Under the hood is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 SoC paired with 4 GB of RAM.

The date of the phone's launch is unknown but according to reports from Gizmochina, it is likely to launch on January 21.
