Right in time for the festive season, Lava has released their latest edition to their tab range - the E-tab Ivory - offered at a price of 10,199. The 7-inch tablet boasts of dual SIM capability with 3G and voice calling facilities. It joins the E-tab tablet portfolio which already includes Z7S, Connect and E-Tab.

Design

The tab comes in just one colour, white; with a textured silvery back which helps to mask fingerprints. But the 'ivory' white bezel wrapped around the screen is bound to get soiled soon.

A 7-inch screen with 1024x600 pixels, not unusual for cheaper models, is not vastly different from that of Micromax Canvas Tab P650 or Lenovo Ideapad A1000. Compared to other tablets in the same category, audio is surprisingly loud, both on headphones or speakers.

Performance

The E-tab Ivory runs on a Android Jelly bean 4.1 OS, powered by 1.2GHz dual-core processor. The RAM used is 1GB DDR3 which will provide with efficient multitasking. We found the performance seamless, apps opened promptly and touch responsiveness was at par. However, internal storage of 4GB is a let down. After preloaded apps and operating system less than 2 GB of it is expected to be available at the user end.

Pricing

The budget tablet segment has seen a number of tablet vendors entering the Indian market and launching tablets with a price tag of sub- 10,000. At the price, the Ivory tab will face a tough competition from the likes of the Asus MemoPad priced at 7,999, Acer Iconia B1 at 9250 and Lenovo Ideapad A1000 with a price tag of 8,980.

If you are not looking to spend a fortune on tabs and are content with low specs, the device can be a good option. But, with Google slashing the price of its Nexus 7 tab, one can get a much refined and powerful device at the same price. (16GB Nexus 7 with WiFi comes is priced 10,999 on amazon)
