The Samsung Galaxy Unpacked event saw the Korean electronics giant unveil its latest Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+ with some top unique features that is sure to awe the industry.

But would you buy a Samsung Galaxy S8 post the Galaxy Note 7 fiasco that forced the company to scrap the model altogether. Samsung that had launched the Note 7 last year came with faulty batteries that made the phones explode or catch fire.

Simply Yes because not only are the features of the phone top notch but Samsung also has tried to ensure that nothing goes wrong with the S8 this time and also use the Galaxy S8 to bring back glory to its smartphone brand name.

The Samsung Galaxy S8 is a phone of firsts for a lot of things. To start with, the Samsung Galaxy S8 comes with a top of the line Qualcomm Sanpdragon 835 10-nanometre processor. The S8 is the first phone to come with the 835 processor however international variants of the phone will come with an Exynos processor.

The S8 and S8+ also comes with Bluetooth module 5.0 -- again a first. The Bluetooth module 5.0 allows connection to two devices at the same which includes streaming as well.

The Samsung Galaxy S8 is also the first Samsung phone that will come with an Infinity (continious) near bezel-less, dual curved quadHD display. The larger-screened S8+ will come with a Super AMOLED display.

The launch of the two flagship phones is also important as this is the first time Samsung has come up with sizes of the same phone and have named them the same way as its rival Apple -- the S8 and the S8+. The screen of the Samsung Galaxy S8+ is also a first as this is the first 6.2-inch screen-sized phone from Samsung's stable.

Contiuning with the list, the Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+ will come with an iris scanner and face recognition technologies. This means that users can simply set their iris scans as passwords and unlock the phone by just looking at it. The facial recognition also makes the phone more secure. However, there is a fingerprint sensor at the back as well.

Also, there is a dedicated button for its digital assistant Bixby. Samsung has also taken away the physical navigation buttons and has put them under the screen to get a bigger display for the phone.

Another first is the unveiling of Samsung's digital assistant Bixby. Samsung claims that Bixby is going to change how people interact with phones. Bixby also shows contextual information after learning from users' behaviour based on geolocation, app usage among other things. Bixby also works with Google Play Music, the phone's camera and some other preloaded apps. This is the first time that an Android phone is coming up with another assistant by ignoring the Google assistant.

If you think the list is over, think again. The Samsung Galaxy S8 uses dual pixel cameras which gives better detail to pictures. Also, Samsung launched a new dock, just like Microsoft did with the Lumia 950 series, called DeX to turn the phones into a PC.

This means that now Samsung S8 phones can work like PCs and can be connected to a monitor, mouse and keyboard. Other launches included a new Gear 360 camera, a new WiFi called Connect Home and a new remote for the Gear VR.
