Best smartphones of 2022: There are plenty to pick! 2022 saw brands going the extra mile to make for some great deals across all price points. Throughout the year, we have seen some great smartphones from leading brands, and some from budding new startups that have delivered highly. For a smartphone enthusiast, 2022 has been a great year to relish.

From a sea of impressive phones, we at HT Tech have handpicked some of the best smartphones we have reviewed this year. Our list includes the flagship phones as well as the ones that are accessible to the masses. For us, it’s not just about having the best specs; the user experience is what we value.

Best smartphones of 2022 we loved:

Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra

Our favourite of 2022! The Galaxy S22 Ultra has literally everything you can expect from a flagship phone today. An incredible set of cameras to play with, a beautiful large display with an S Pen stylus helping the case, good battery life, and a killer design. There is nothing better than the Galaxy S22 Ultra we have seen this year. You can buy it at a price of Rs. 109,999 right now.

Apple iPhone 14 Pro Max

The only new iPhone we saw this year in a true sense! The iPhone 14 Pro Max left us spellbound with its splendid camera system, a beautiful build, an amazing display, and that cutesy Dynamic Island. Not to forget the unmatched battery life this iPhone 14 Pro Max offers out of the box! It is quite pricey starting at Rs. 139900 but it is one jewel of a smartphone.

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4

A folding phone is cool and one that flips is the coolest! Starting at Rs. 90000, the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4 tops the cool factor chart, and it is a splendid good phone to boot. The Flip 4 is quite fast with its Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, a decent all-day battery life, a pair of good cameras, and all the flagship perks you expect from a high end smartphone.

Google Pixel 7 Pro

Google returns to the flagship segment with the fantastic Rs. 84999 Pixel 7 Pro; a phone with an incredible set of cameras that does magic at night. In fact, the Pixel 7 Pro is in our opinion the best still camera smartphone you can buy today. You also buy it for its beautiful Android experience. The Pixel 7 at Rs. 59,999 is a more cost effective way to have this experience, but you miss out on the 5X telephoto camera.

Nothing Phone 1

At Rs. 29,999, the Nothing Phone 1 is a superb phone to own. The Phone 1 offers the cleanest Android experience in this segment, and slick performance to back it up. However, we loved the Phone 1 for its superb build quality, a striking new design with its cool Glyph lighting interface, and good battery life. Highly recommended for those love them a unique smartphone.

Redmi Note 11 Pro

Xiaomi’s Redmi Note 11 Pro is our favourite in the sub- 20000 category. For Rs. 18000, the Note 11 Pro offers unmatched value. A beautiful 120Hz AMOLED display, a glass back, great battery life backed by a 67W wired fast charging, and a set of decent cameras. The Redmi Note 11 Pro has been our easy recommendation in this price segment.

Realme 9 Pro+

The Realme 9 Pro+ starting at Rs. 24999 makes it to our list only for its camera performance. The phone surprised with its stupendously good still photography earlier this year, and all those using it even today love it. The rest of the smartphone bits are good enough but photographers should consider this, if budget is a constraint.

Motorola Edge 30 Ultra

In a year of rather boring releases, the Motorola Edge 30 Ultra is the most surprising phone. A superb flagship phone, the Edge 30 Ultra offers a great Android experience, a nice display, a fun 200MP main camera for all light conditions, and a 125W fast wired charging.

iPhone SE 3rd Gen

Yes, the iPhone SE makes it our list of favourites. Surprised? The iPhone SE 3 is more expensive now and it hasn’t gotten any better. However, as a starter iPhone, the iPhone SE 3 is a lovely phone. It is compact and hence comfy to use, superb performance, a pair of good cameras, and decent all-day battery life. Plus, it is a favourite with those who swear by the old-school iPhone design.
