Excitel Broadband now has half a million subscribers across India

Excitel Broadband on Wednesday announced that it had touched the landmark of having half-a-million subscribers in less a year in India. The internet service provider said that it witnessed a growth of around 55% in the year 2020. The year ended with the company figure having a user base of 500,000 users.

Currently, Excitel Broadband is operational in 19 cities including, which includes Delhi-National Capital Region, Jaipur, Lucknow, Prayagraj, Hyderabad, Vijayawada, Guntur, Unnao, Kanpur, Jhansi, Bangalore, and Visakhapatnam to name a few. The company has plans of expanding its presence to over 50 additional cities in India by the end of 2021.

“The year 2020 bought with it some unprecedented challenges, the way we work, study, entertain ourselves or for that matter socialize has got changed due to COVID, increasing significance of Wireline Broadband in our lives. High-speed FTTH (fiber-to-the-home) connection is now a basic utility service for every household, this is a challenge as well as an opportunity for all Wireline service providers to improve their game and rise up to the challenge,” Vivek Raina, CEO, Excitel Broadband, said on achieving the milestone.

“With the affordable FTTH service, Excitel believes in catering to a bigger set of audience, not just in tier 1 and tier 2 but also to very small towns in the tier 3 markets,” he added.

Notably, this development comes nearly two months after the broadband service provider revamped its fibre internet plans allowing users to double the speed of the service at an additional cost of ₹50 per month starting from December 1, 2020. The updated plans start at ₹399 for 100 mbps and extend all the way to ₹899 for 300 mbps per month across 17 cities in the country.
