Microsoft Whiteboard app for Windows 10 released; iOS version coming soon

Microsoft on Thursday announced the availability of its Whiteboard application for Windows 10 users. The application will soon be available for iOS and web users. For now, Windows 10 users can download the application from the Windows Store. The application was launched late last year as a preview version.

Microsoft Whiteboard, as the name suggests is a virtual whiteboard, allows multiple users to real-time collaborate on an idea using images, doodles and more. Users can use stylus to take notes, draw illustrations and do more. The application uses Microsoft's "intelligent ink" that recognises your sketches to give them a standard shape. It also autosaves your work which allows users to continue work from where they left off.

Since the preview release in December last year, the app was used by more than 200,000 users, according to Microsoft. The final version of the Whiteboard application comes with new features such as "text notes, the ability to add and manipulate images, enhancements to shape and table recognition, accessibility improvements, compliance with various global standards, and more."

"Sign in with a free Microsoft Account or a paid Office 365 account to ink, ideate, and collaborate on Windows 10 devices. An Office 365 commercial account is required for the iOS and web experience at this time," said Microsoft in a note.

"Whiteboard currently supports collaboration within Office 365 tenants for commercial customers, and across personal accounts for customers with a Microsoft account. Collaboration across multiple Office 365 tenants is planned for future release," it added.
