Slack is down for some users. Slack users across the globe are reporting issues wherein they are unable to connect to the service and send or receive messages. Some Slack users are also not being able to access the website of the Microsoft-owned messaging platform.
According to Downdetector, Slack first started experiencing issues at around 9PM on October 30 when around 27 users reported facing issues while using the service. The reports peaked at around 11PM on September 30 wherein nearly 2,871 users reported facing issues with Slack’s services.
Slack was quick to acknowledge the issue with its services. In an update via its official Slack HQ handle on Twitter, the company confirmed the existence of issues with its services. In the same tweet, Slack also said that its service was down for some users owing to DNS-related issues and that it might take up to 24 hours for the fix to reach all Slack users across the globe.
Slack has also updated its Status page to indicate the developments that it is making in resolving this issue. “We are aware of connectivity issues related to DNS that are impacting a small subset of users. This issue was caused by our own change and not related to any third-party DNS software and services. In order to resolve this faster, your ISP (Internet Service Provider) will need to flush their DNS record for slack.com. Please reach out to your networking team to provide them with this information. We expect all customers’ connectivity issues to be resolved within the next 24 hours,” Slack wrote on its support page.
As per the latest update by Slack, the issue is affecting less than 1% of its total customers. The company said that “it will take some time for the DNS changes to resolve this issue for everyone.”
Slack also said that till the time the issue is being resolved, users can try switching to Google DNS to improve things slightly. This can be accessed for both Windows and for MacOS.
Slack also said that users can try reloading Slack using Control + Command + R command.
