Spotify to launch its service in South Korea in first half of 2021

Spotify Technology SA said on Thursday it will launch its music streaming service in South Korea in the first half of 2021 after expanding into Russia and 12 other nations earlier this year.

Spotify is present in over 90 global markets already. 

Spotify recently also updated two of its Premium subscription plans in India. Spotify Premium daily and weekly plans have received discounts, and are also called ‘Premium Mini’ now.

The revised Spotify Premium Mini plans now cost ₹7 per day, and ₹25 per week. These plans were originally priced at ₹13 per day and ₹39 per week. These bite-sized plans can be used only on Spotify’s mobile app, and are restricted to only one device at a time.

Also, Spotify currently supports local music playback through its desktop app. It is now testing the same for its Android app so users will now have an easier way to back up local files to their Spotify account.

This feature was spotted by Jane Manchun Wong who shared a screenshot of the new test on Spotify’s Android app. The new feature will be available as ‘Import’ under the settings menu. Here, users will have an option to “show device files” which will make all audio files on the device visible in Your Library. Users can toggle this option if they want their local files on their Spotify library.
